With me along some B road yet unknown,
That just divides the desert from the sown
Where name of Costa and McDonalds scarce is known
And pity Gordon Brown on his throne

Here with a Loaf of Bread not far from Slough
A Grand Cuvee, a GPS - and Thou
Beside me panicking in the wilderness
And Berkshire is Paradise enow.

Ah, fill the Cup:-what boots it to repeat
How time is slipping underneath our Feet:
Unborn TO-MORROW and dead YESTERDAY,
Why fret about them if TO-DAY be sweet!

That's the first poem who've done in ages, Dr! What a contrast the profound last verse is to Gordon Brown having a dump in the first.

Be careful Doc, especially when "thou" rhymes with "Slough", it's a slippery slope.

I like the heedless toasting at the last: "To Morrow"!; and "To Day be sweet!" And the fact that the last line's not a question but a puppish yelp of joy.

I like it even better because the elan betrays itself despite the various satires you're playing on love poemetry. Enow and Slough indeed! "A Grand Cuvee, a GPS - and Thou" You went all biblical here, 'Roon, with your elevated Loaf Of Bread adn your wilderness. I've never been to Slough but have never been able to shake the Pilgrim's "of Despond" thing about it.

Looky here at this fucking tragedy of the internet age though: I looked at the colon and dash following Cup and immediately thought "what kind of an emoticon is that?"

You are fab, you know. Vintage Maroon!

Nope, i didn't. Never put much eye-time into the Rubaiyat. If you're being serious, it reminded me of other stuff actually.

I didn't think you were serious but I was genuinely charmed by your carpeing the diem and all that shit, even through the fun-making. That bit was bullshitting too, eh?

Make with the pixels, and make them snappy.

PCB You see me too well.
The carping the diem was A1 True.
I cannot get anything past you it seems.
I am carping the diem like buggery.
I have to.

Clarissa darling,

we've discussed this, They must see photographic evidence; it's just the Hello and OK world we live in.
No photos, no dice.
We live in a mistrustful age. Anyway why should we prove ourselves? I'm sure I do not know.

I remain.
