The Beatles were great in the Sixties
but IMO they have been blown up out of all proportion. The Stones are ageless.
The holy adoration of Paul and the late John is- again IMO - totally misplaced.

Nasty Niece I am the Nave of tarts.

Isn't it a belter Scarls? Oh I think I'll have a 3 o'clock salute. Let me think...I know, a vodka, Pimms and lemonade! A real 21 gunner!
Hooray and up she rises,
hooray and up she rises...
I'm feeling chust sublime.

Gimme Shelter Pat? Classic. Here, have a noggin yourself. Grease the gills with this, it's my own mix, I call it a buccaneer. No darling, a Bucccaneer. Batten the hatches!!!!

Gimme Shelter is also one of my fave stones tracks. It was used in an RAC advert in the nineties... just the intro... and the RAC man turned up on a big motorbike. He was well equipped.

although not born until the late seventies, i do have a strong appreciation of the music from that era.. i owe a lot of it to my father who can hear the first few chords of a song and identify it.

i can't honestly say that i agree with your opinion of the Beatles Mrs. PI. i do respect it, i wasn't there to appreciate their upstart. but i think a lot of the still current adoration of paul and john is well placed due to the music that has been offered up since. it just hasn't come up to par.

don't get me wrong.. i do like music (today) but there was just something about the Beatles (and the Stones and Jimi Hendrix and the Doors (i can go on, but won't)) that just isn't around today.

in humble respect.

Yeah, well equipped, but they're all gay; that's why they send them out to stranded women. Everyone knows that. Can you imagine them sending the likes of me out to some penelope pitstop type in the middle of rural shitsville with a gallon of two star?
Exactly. 'nuff said.

What are you on? White Russians? Right, cheers.

"Love Me Two Times" is a great song Maroon, but i see you more as a "Back Door Man"..

Pat said...

Sarah: it's just a gut feeling - inexplicable - but garnered over the years. Their music: fine. themselves: pass. It's not a morality thing because I adore Jimi.
We'll agree to differ?

Mrs Pouncer said...

Sarah, how extraordinary! I often see Maroon as a Back Door Man, too.
